Program: Rehabilitation of housing between party walls
Author: Joan Espinàs, Lluís Avellan
Area: 142 m2
Reform where original elements are enhanced, to search for maximum light and visual transparency.
This home is located in the historic center of Terrassa and is part of a set called “Cases d’en Maurí” included in the special security plan of the historic–architectural and environmental heritage of this city.
The reform of the housing between party walls was done to improve conditions for use and occupancy by altering the distribution and complete renovation of the existing finishes and dinning.
With the intervention completely changed the distribution, moving the sleeping area to the ground floor and bringing the public floor (kitchen and living room) to the top floor where you can enjoy greater visual range due to the high altitude of the lower-desk space, that even allows adding a small loft used as a studio.
Highlights the vaulted ceiling on the ground floor and the original slab beams upstairs.
The floor of the entire house is made of dutch oak, except bathrooms, kitchen and courtyard, paved with ceramic tiles.
The stairs, light to better articulate the visual relationship between the two floors, located in the center of the floor, sets the boundaries between the different parts.
