A typical old house between party walls at Badalona’s city center, has been converted into a roomy and bright office through the complete renovation of existing housing and the extension of the same, occupying the space of a small courtyard into disuse.
The project has two distinct parts, on one hand, the rehabilitation of the existing building, the demolition of all existing partitions and walls to achieve an open space where the main working area is organized, and on the other hand enlarge the building, with a new volume that houses the main office and the boardroom, at the same time generating a walkable deck that becomes an outside extension of the upstairs.
Connecting both spaces a closet a long hides service spaces, waiting room, bathroom, office and the stairs leading down to the basement. The lighting of the stairs becomes a light shaft illuminating workspaces farther from the street and articulates the space.
At the bottom of the plot, it has also left an inner courtyard that generates a sense of depth to the whole space and at the same time allows natural cross ventilation throughout the office.
